Job Scope

 

Reporting to the Department's Production Shift Supervisor the permit coordinator will authorize and issue Work Permits for a specific building, area, plant or section of plant.

 

The role is responsible for participation in the coordination of all planning and daily work permit activities in the plant or department, required to meet the primary objective of "Safe and efficient production of Nickel and Cobalt".

The role is responsible for participation in the coordination of all planning and daily work permit activities in the plant or department, required to meet the primary objective of "Safe and efficient production of Nickel and Cobalt".

Position Description

Specific Accountabilities

 

1.   Understand, comply and enforce company policies, practices and procedures.

 

2.   Accept work permit requests, prepare work permits and approve the hazard controls for a specific scope of work, this includes briefing the Permit Acceptor on the hazard controls in place.

 

3.   Clarifying the scope of work for the work permit.

 

4.   Ensuring Work Instruction's / Risk Assessments have been completed by the Permit Acceptor/ Work Team.

 

5.   Authorizing the issue / closure of Permits and Certificates.

 

6.   Ensure all documents associated to the work permits are maintained as per the Permit to work procedure.

 

7.   Managing all permit locks and keys includes locking the permit board lock boxes.

 

8.   Comply with company Permit to Work document control procedures.

 

9.   Participate in incident investigations and audits as required by the Company.

 

Qualifications Required

 

A secondary education with at least 5 years of operating and isolation experience in a chemical or metallurgical plant.  The incumbent must have strong communication skills and a proven record of mentoring and training of personnel.
