Asia-Pacific Leadership Programme on Environment for Sustainable Development (scholarships available!)




Background:
The UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD) was
jointly established by UNEP and Tongji University in May 2002. The objectives of

IESD are:
(1) to develop educational programmes to build research, technical and
managerial skills and capacity in developing countries;
(2) to contribute to UNEP's global and regional environmental activities; and
(3) to disseminate information of best practice and technological developments.

Programme:

The 2010 Leadership Programme will be offered by professors of Tongji
University, RUC and well-known scholars and leaders from the Asia-Pacific region

as well as UNEP officials. It will target young and emerging environment leaders

from government, non-government organizations and private sectors. The Programme

will last for 7 days, focusing on the three pillars. It will include field
trip/case study, interactive exercise and participant presentations.

Participant Support:
Limited financial resources will be made available to support candidates from
developing countries, which include return air travel.
