RESPONSIBILITIES AND POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Working with a global team, you will be responsible for implementing new projects focusing on the design and engineering of the service across multiple sub system requirements including storage, networking, backup and disaster recovery planning. This position requires addressing, and resolving complex problems across mixed solutions (Unix/Linux/Windows/SAN/NAS). You will also be responsible for planning, architecture, and implementation of storage, backup, and networked technologies to support missions critical applications.
o Consult with customers (independently or in partnership with project team) to understand and analyze operational procedures and information generation or utilization needs, including why the project was requested, as well as the project requirements, including scope, risk, time, and cost.
o Provide delivery on project tasks including the initiation, assessment, strategy, design and implementation of infrastructure solutions.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
o BS or BA Degree in a related discipline preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
o Five to 10 years experience in networking infrastructure deployment and hands-on management for all network gear
o Ability to work proficiently in Solaris , Linux and Windows operating systems environments
o Deep knowledge of SAN and NAS hardware
o Deep knowledge and usage of Unix, prefer Solaris
o Utilize strong customer interface skills to gather requirements and server /data specific information to incorporate into implementation plans
o Perform technical hands-on integration of various products mentioned above
o Solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts
o Follows design with great fidelity
o Willingness to discover discrepancies, adherence to good engineering practice
o A team player that can be called on to be an individual contributor
o Produce documentation and provide knowledge transfers to customers
o Willingness to follow orders and design to completeness
o Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
o Willingness and ability to travel 100%
o Familiarity with the leading IT management tools.
o Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups.
o Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules and priorities.
o The ability to socialize ideas, make recommendations and gather team consensus to move forward.
DESIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
o Bachelors or Master degree in Computer Science is preferred
o Professional Certifications for VMware, Microsoft, Linux, Unix, Sun, VMWare, CompTIA, A+, Cisco, or another storage / networking gear vendor
o Key experience within consulting firm for IT Rationalization/Transformational areas.
