Overview:

The Defect Manager coordinates activities related to testing and defects within products and services to the current user base and supports cross functional teams that conduct market launches.  In addition, the Defect manager ensures the effective administration of defects within each of the wireless product projects in support of both MVNO and BOT launch programs. Tasks to include: producing defect status and progress reports both periodically and on request, and ensuring the project members follow the guidelines in recording and maintaining defects.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that the Defect Management system (using Quality Center) is used appropriately
  • To set up the system to enable recording and maintaining of defects
  • To develop processes in using the system so that both the company standards are followed and the project specific objectives are met
  • To educate users in how to use the system
  • To police the usage and ensure corrections are made
  • To support each test stream lead in the administration of defects within the various test phases
  • Ensuring the defect status, priority and other information reflects the correct state of play of the project
  • To run meetings where defects are analyzed and actions taken to set appropriate status or priority
  • To assign and manage actions taken
  • To provide support to ensure defects are updated accordingly
  • Ensuring defect status, progress of being resolved, comparison between phases, cycles or releases, or general information can be reported
  • To take various customer requests and produce solutions to suit all
  • To extract the information from QC and format the reports using advanced Excel to produce graphs and charts
  • To produce and distribute reports both run periodically and on demand
  • Assist in any audit investigations on the project

Required Qualifications: 

o   Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s Degree

o   Strong cross functional organizational skills required to interact with internal stakeholders on service and product releases

o   2+ years of management experience and managing defect processes in service companies

o   Quality Center - to level of creating custom Excel reports using VBA for defect reporting

o   Advanced Excel – to level of producing formula driven graphs and charts for management
VBA experience

o   Ability to prepare and present to small groups of internal and customers stakeholders

o   Understanding of software and service development methodologies including familiarity with ITIL based processes

 

Desired Additional Qualifications:

o   3+ years of experience working in software as a service (SaaS) industry

o   Experience working in web based environments

o   Experience working in cellular telecommunications industry

o   Desire to work in a fast paced, evolving, growing and dynamic environment
