Sr. UNIX Systems Administrator
Mountain View CA.
Duration : 12 Months+
Rate : Best

Looking for an experienced Solaris system administrator, with recent experience in distributed environments such as Hadoop. Candidate must have proven experience with data extraction, large storage and transfer projects, performance tuning and scalability.

This person must have ability supporting new Hadoop clusters that we're building for our Analytics team.

Looking for someone with experiencing supporting Java applications on Solaris.

 

Responsibilities include:

    * Architecting, implementing and administering Solaris-based Hadoop solutions.
    * Developing and enhancing rapid deployment procedures
    * Develop and improve scripts and tools that automate manual procedures
    * Contribute and adhere to standards including server builds, security, and production migration
    * Managing efforts in support of data protection and backup processes
    * Providing occasional 24x7 on call support

Required Experience:

    * 10 years experience in Solaris and server administration, including configuration, troubleshooting and automation
    * Experienced supporting Java applications, such as Hadoop. Data analytic experience a plus
    * Affinity toward troubleshooting and solving difficult system problems, including hardware, software, and networking
    * Degree in Computer Science or similar area of study required
